Since receiving its prestigious Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) designation in 1971, the Cahors appellation has persevered through many challenges, continuously beating the odds to survive owing largely to the tireless dedication of its passionate vintners who believe ardently in preserving the region’s unique terroir.

Cahors has always been a region prone to climatic extremes, and climate change has exaggerated that.

Sélection massale, or massal selection, is an ancient vine propagation technique that is preferred by premium growers in Cahors to preserve the varietal character of Malbec, the distinctive terroir of the region, and the health and diversity of the vineyard.

Malbec is the ideal grape to express the striking duality of Cahors terroir. Between two wildly different bodies of water, each one with its own distinct climatic influence, it is also home to two different types of terrain that significantly influence the style of the wines in their own unique ways.

The word origin of mentor can be traced back to Homer’s epic ‘The Odyssey’, in which Odysseus entrusted a ‘mentor’ with his son, Telemachus while he went to the Trojan war.
